Admission is $25.00 and it’s a good idea if you are planning on the tour to book reservations early online. The Hearst family is one of those great American success stories.

For those that don’t want to go to Hearst Castle there is plenty to do in Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo (slow town).

Day four - -
Sunday- 9/22 home same way we came.

September is a great time of year for this ride because it tends to be a dryer month. I have done a lot of road trips and this route is one of my all-time favorites.

UPDATE ON THE LODGING:

The property is called The Rigdon House. It is located in downtown Cambria which is a perfect spot and I'm sure you all will agree. Their website is www.therigdonhouse.com/

Phone: 805.927.2125

Our dates are Sept 19-22nd

Since there are not a lot of rooms in their collective inventory, they are discounting the room rates based on the direct booking part of their website. These rates are much less than what I paid over the weekend across the street and they currently have availability for us.

I already booked their Family Suite because there was only one of them and I didn't want someone outside of SDHOG to scoop it up. It's a huge place that will easily and comfortably sleep six and the rate for that averages $231.00 per night plus 12.5% fees. So if anyone wants to split that one let me know. Otherwise, the rooms are approx $135-150.00 per night. Breakfast is included along with complimentary pizza and wine in the evening.

Because this is not a hotel, there is a 5 day cancellation policy. It is on the 5th day that they will charge the credit card. I was told that anyone who pays in full when reserving will get an additional discount but I don't recommend doing that because those funds then become non-refundable...

If anyone has any questions I can help with, please let me know. I recommend booking a room sooner rather than later on this one...

I spoke with Zara..
